John Peel Jug.
A novel Crown Devon Musical jug from around 1930, dedicated to the romanticized 19th century huntsman John Peel.
The jug is decorated with depictions of a hunt. A mounted huntsman stands behind the dogs after they have found a fox. With the other huntsman dismounted. The front of the jug has the lyrics to the 19th Century song “D’ye Ken John Peel”, beneath of which, the dates 1776 – 1854 (the life of John Peel). The other side of the jug has the portrait of John Peel. The handle is shaped like a fox.
